• Click the right mouse button to freeze the cube
  • Move the mouse to zoom in and out while the cube is frozen
  • See if you can get the Easter egg to display

NOTE: If this did not work for you before, please try it using the new launch page below. This will indicate if any .NET bits are missing on your PC. This will all go away when we finish moving this work to Silverlight in total.

This proof of concept gets us around a few hurdles we were struggling with to deliver a ‘Google Earth’ style view but into a ‘company as the earth’. In our opinion, you can navigate to almost any spot on the planet so why is it so hard to find documents?

For those invested in document management, categorization and meta information addition (part of building the taxonomies) the piece we found missing was a ‘modern’ way to navigate, discover, filter, pattern match, etc. all that semi-structured data.

  5. So sorry.. I know exactly what the issue is. If you try again it will ask you to install a small client side set of libraries for the time being. This is due to our use of Windows Presentation Foundation and the full XAML 3D library.

This is optimized for a new client subset for the .NET 3.5 SP1 release (came out recently) so at least the full .NET 3.4 framework is no longer requirement (as long as you package and deploy it correctly).

We mistakenly skipped a critical pre-eval stage before launch which is why you saw the mess above. Now you should get the options necessary to run this.

Once this is fully ready for Silverlight, the deployment becomes even easier.

  6. I’m somehow having a hard time relating the bouncing flower box to the sharepoint taxonomy navigation.. it looks great though! :)

  7. Mike,

I totally understand your point. This will be clear soon (if not more so now if you see the latest post. The cube is not the end-state, it just provides a view of the engine. The navigation works nothing like a moving cube, but that shows the core. In fact a cube may not be the shape, and words, not images are assumed initially for the taxonomy – or tags with images).
